Fourteen inches of snow is not exactly what I expected on the first day of April. We all thought the snow was done, but April Fools! It shouldn't last long as we are due to have 50 degree temperatures and lots of rain over the next week! I cant wait for the real spring to make an appearance.

Spring Palette
Well, the beautiful weather was short lived. Tomorrow we expect the possibility of more than twenty inches of snow, and I have decided to revolt. I pulled out my pink purse, tossed on a spring scarf, and bought a whole armful of flowers in Peterborough, perfect for the middle of the table while the snow storm rages outside. As much as I love winter, the tease of spring the past couple weeks got me right into the mood for green grass, sundresses, and pastels. Dreaming of the future days!

Taking on the Blizzard
It's mid February, and we are finally starting to see significant snowfall for the first time this winter. Most people think I'm crazy when I say I love winter. Sure, its easy just to look at the negatives of a snow, like having to shovel, slipping on ice, or the treacherous driving that comes with the white stuff...however, I'm definitely a firm believer in finding something fun that only winter can give you. Skiing, for example, or ice skating; put on a large snowball fight with friends, or bundle up under a plaid blanket while making s'mores around a fire pit after an afternoon of sledding. Cheese fondue is best enjoyed when the temperature is below freezing outside, and there is nothing better than to snuggle into the couch cushions with a mug of hot chocolate to watch a movie in the evenings. There is really a lot to love about the winter.
Not only does February tend to be snowier than other months here in New Hampshire, but it is also that time of year when winter coats go on sale everywhere! I got the Nordic Coat from J. Crew this winter, and I haven't been able to take it off. I was hooked when I saw the mass of faux fur, and got even more excited when I stepped into the single digit temps with a windchill in the negatives, and I stayed completely warm! Without a doubt it is the warmest coat I own, and adorable to boot. I wear it everywhere!
Right now it is marked down, and 30% off of that! Check out some more of my top picks for winter coats below, most of which are on sale now!
We are under a blizzard watch until tomorrow, and I've definitely been enjoying it (though I am also blessed with having tomorrow off of work, so I don't have to worry about the commute in the slush). I've already had hot chocolate while watching "I Met Him in Paris" (1937), and it has been pure coziness!
Enjoy the storm!

Seaside Sunshine
It was a balmy near 50 degrees out with sunshine in Kennebunkport this past Wednesday. We were fortunate to be traveling up the Maine coastline on the warmest day of the week before the temperatures plummeted in the teens! We arrived at Cape Porpoise and parked at the end of Pier Road to take in the views of the lighthouse across the water. It was beautiful!
