Nantucket Adventures - Day Two

Sweater: Cynthia Rowley (old)
Shorts: Ann Taylor Factory
Shoes: Nautica
Necklace: J. Crew (old)

Day two on Nantucket was just as fun as the first! We rode our bicycles to Brant Point Lighthouse where we strolled on the beach, snapped photos, and even spotted a rabbit run down the road and past us! We had lunch at The Brotherhood of Thieves, which was some of the most amazing french onion soup. Then we popped around the shops again, and I even found a little something at the Peter Beaton Hat Shop, which is one of my favorite stores in town! We also found a large mirror, which my Mom has been looking for to go in the formal dining room for ages! It was a little awkward getting it back on the ferry, but we managed, and are very happy that we did! We grabbed some chocolates and ice cream before departing the island for home. It was a fun trip, and I can't wait till the next time I can go back!

My Mom and I recently went to Nantucket to spend a couple days for a short getaway. Day one consisted of shopping, walking, and bicycling around the historic town of Nantucket. We enjoyed a lunch at Arno's after the ferry, and I couldn't resist grabbing some fudge at the local fudge shop. I bought a children's book at Mitchell's Book Corner on Main Street for my nieces and nephews to enjoy, before heading to the Easy Riders Bike Shop, where we each rented adorable Schwinn bicycles with bike baskets and everything! We peddled all over the town, snapping photos and having a whale of a good time! It was very fun, and I felt a little more free with the bicycle, as I could stray farther and get around faster. We finished the day by grabbing hot chocolate at The Hub before retreating to our hotel, where we turned on the TV and went to sleep. It was an amazing first day!

Recently my Mom and I had a lovely evening at the Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, NH. We strolled along the historic hotel's porch, and had dinner on the veranda with a view of the White Mountains at dusk. It was such a lovely time, and I hope to do it again as soon as possible!

Beauty in Chatham!

Old Cape Cod

Did you ever go down on Old Cape Cod.
That place that speaks of peace and God.
Where the trees, and flowers and even grass.
Nod you a welcome as you pass.

Where you hear the waves a-pounding the shore,
When the wind's nor' east and the storm clouds lower;
Where you breathe in the smell of the old salt grass.
As on the highway of God's country you pass.

No place in the world shines the sun so bright.
Or the moon when it's full on a summer's night.
And the people "God bless them," that true do they ring
They make you as welcome as the flowers in Spring.

A hand clasp that thrills way down to the toes.
Is the greeting one gets wherever he goes.
Just to think of that place is to me.
With its wonderful flowers and sky and sea.

Like sweetest nectar, fit for a god.
That I drink to the health of Old Cape Cod.
