It has been simply beautiful here in New Hampshire, and about time I donned an oversized sweater, scarf, hunters, and hit the road for a foliage trip. Couldn't pass up this gorgeous spot by a graveyard for some photos!
Sunday we spent a peaceful afternoon of fun with friends. We started off the day with a packed car, ready to head to a polo match after church (my first polo match ever!). A few minutes later all plans changed as the match was cancelled due to rain the previous day, and we were left in the lurch with a car full of tailgating supplies and sad faces. But after much discussion and research, we settled on a nearby apple orchard as the location of the much needed, and much photographed lunch. We threw tartan blankets about, handed out cocktails, and partook of good cheer, turkey breast, delightful conversation, and one cranberry apple upside-down cake. The woman working there was absolutely wonderful, taking pity on our sad news of cancelled plans, and let us park up in the orchard so we could take full advantage of the autumnal setting. The trees were full of apples, wet from the morning's rain, and it even misted on us a bit, but that did not dampen our spirits, as we pumped ourselves full of a hearty lunch and hot cider from our friends' farm. We left well fed, satisfied, and with the promise of attending one or two polo matches next year...and I'm already contemplating the next tailgate spread. It was a lovely day!
